How to Write Your Wedding Vows

Exchanging your wedding vows is a significant moment, and one you will never forget. The words not only set the tone of your wedding day, but also lay the foundation for your journey ahead as a married couple.

1. Reflect

Before you put pen to paper, take some time to reflect on your relationship. Think about how you met, what drew you to one another, your favourite memories, the qualities you admire most about them, and the promises you want to make.

Don’t rush it either - each time you think of a funny memory or something you may want to share, write it down in the notes app on your phone and come back to it later!

2. Keep it Authentic

Your vows should be a reflection of your love story. Don’t feel pressured to make them sound poetic - and definitely don’t just copy and paste from ChatGPT! What matters most is that they come from your heart and reflect your own journey together. Don’t be afraid to add a little humour too - your vows can be fun. A lighthearted touch will make the moment more relatable, personal, and enjoyable.

3. Keep it Concise

Your vows don’t need to be long. Two minutes in length is a great place to start. Communicate your expectations with your partner so you know how long each of your vows will be and make sure you practice reading them aloud before the day so you feel confident in your delivery!
